07/26/26 - Romans 8 Part IV: The Way

Every action, thought, and emotion we have comes from one of two sources: the Spirit of God within us, or our sin-scarred flesh.

We were given the law so that we could differentiate between what comes from our sinful flesh and what comes from the grace of God through the Spirit placed within us.

When a believer is filled with the Spirit, they are no longer held to the contract of the Law.

If being a Christian means being free from the law what does it mean?

If you are a Christian, living in the power of the Holy Spirit, you are no longer obligated to follow the law.

The New Way means we are so well grounded in Christ, that we no longer have any need for the boundaries and restrictions of the Law.

Ask yourself:

1. When hearing a sermon, are you feeling condemned or judged? Ask yourself is the speaker preaching to my flesh or to the Spirit within me?

2. Are you still trying to live up to the Law.

3. Am I walking in the fullness of the Spirit or living by trying to follow the rules?
